Copyright

Copyright can be granted for any intellectual work that bears the imprint of the personality of its creator.
Copyright is well-known for works by Famous creators such as Rodin, Picasso or Saint Exupéry. Even so, it is in no way reserved solely to major creators; copyright is not related to merit. It is applicable to all literary, musical, aesthetic or graphic creations and to software as well.

For example, Architects, choreographers, musicians, lyric writers, painters, software developers are also considered as works.
Copyright is born from creation. Therefore, it is extremely important to date this creation to be able to prove its anteriority in the event of a dispute.
There are different technical ways of doing this (deposit by Bailiff, a Soleau envelope, sending a registered letter to oneself).

Copyright gives the creator property rights (transferable and saleable) and moral rights (which are non-transferable).
Property rights more especially enable creators to be the only persons who can reproduce their work (i.e. copy it) and represent it (communicate it to the public by any means) and to be the only person who can authorise a third party to reproduce or represent it by means of an extremely accurate transfer of rights contract drawn up beforehand.

Moral rights enable creators to be recognised as the creator of their work and, more especially, they give creators the right to have their work respected and not allow it to be modified without their prior consent.
